Psychotherapy

The soul or the human mind together with the physical body, forms an entity. Both are interconnected and influence each other. Positive experiences have an invigorating and healthy impact on our body. These experiences build up our resilience and are helping us to overcome crises and challenges in our life without getting sick. These positive experiences are also referred to as “eustress”. In addition to the term eustress there also exists a expression for the entirety of all negative events that can happen to us. They are referred to as “distress”. Examples of such negative experiences are for instance:

- An illness of our mind or body
- A loved one who is gravely ill
- A divorce
- Cases of death
- Relationship problems
- Problems in parenting
- Concerns for children
- Difficulties at work or at school
- Transitions into new phases of life
- Traumatic experiences in our own life story
- Psychological or physical violence
- Accident or natural disaster.

By the time when these negative strains are becoming too much in relation to the existing positive experiences which build up our resilience, the balance between our body and soul becomes unbalanced and can manifest itself in mental and physical symptoms. Mentally it usually starts with sleeping disorders which then can lead to depression, panic and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, inner tension or increased tiredness, fatigue or burn out symptoms. Physically a whole range of symptoms may show up, which can often not be explained by doctors. It is, for example, stress-related weight gain or weight loss, increased pain sensation, stomach and digestive problems, hot flashes and sweats, worrying sensations in the heart area or an increased liability to infection and inflammation.

The treatment of these psychosomatic diseases should start with a consultation of a medical doctor to rule out any physiological explanation of the symptoms. Once this is ruled out, psychotherapeutic treatment can be very effective. It can offer practical help in life and the right treatment option for many mental and psychosomatic illnesses or symptoms. The main focus of my work is the treatment of:

-    Stress-related health disorders
-    Stress-related overweight or underweight
-    Sleep disorders
-    Depression or depressive moods
-    Fatigue / Burnout
-    Psychosomatic complaints
-    Anxiety Disorders

Maybe you also have had the wish to meet with a therapist who dedicates time especially to you, listens attentively and empathizes with you and the concern which troubles you. Or you long for a sheltered place where you can let go and finally get the attention you deserve and talk to someone you can trust.

Within the context of psychotherapy these conditions are guaranteed.

During my time at university, I developed my own model of stress related diseases. The model describes the processes in your brain and body and enables you to understand why your body reacts to stress in exactly this way. Through this you will begin to comprehend the implication of the different therapeutic options available.

My approach to my work is that man is always more than the individual parts of its body. It therefore follows that my personal contact with you reflects this philosophy. You have interests, high hopes, values, aims in life, your own attitude to life and its inner meaning - and everything together makes you unique. Associated with this are always personal resources and self-healing powers, which constitute an enormous personal growth potential. If you are not aware of this, then this is something we can begin to look at.

Give meaning to your life again. Make a meeting possible, start your psychotherapy!
